21 Wapping Lane

21 Wapping Lane is a collection of apartments by Ballymore, a company specialising in transforming parts of London into cohesive, vibrant neighbourhoods. 

The challenge was how to get prospective homeowners, who may never have considered the Wapping area before, to reconsider. 

In-depth research uncovered layers of stories about the area, from the first settlement in 600AD, through to Captain Kidd’s execution, Brunel opening the Thames tunnel, the Blitz and the regeneration today. These stories were important to tell, as they helped to contextualise the area in London’s history.

The identity and brand were an opportunity to educate people about the area’s culture, putting Wapping ‘on the map’ within the context of the capital. This involved uncovering stories about the area, channeling them into an identity that feels weathered, yet modern with an emphasis on map-based visuals.
